Here is a breakdown of some of the Maroon squads' final fall standings:
In
front of the pack
The men's and women's
cross-country teams finished third and fourth, respectively, at
the UAA conference meet held October 28 at Case Western Reserve
University. Wendy Sullivan, '02, covered the 5,000 meter course
in 18 minutes, 30 seconds to capture the individual women's conference
title, while Oliver Richards, '01, ran 25:58 over 8,000 meters
to place third.
Gridiron
repeat
It was home-sweet-homecoming October 28 for the Maroons as they
topped Washington University 12-9 to take both the Founder's Trophy,
given to the winner of this annual Midwestern match-up, and their
second UAA conference title in the past three years.
Serve's
up
With an 8-28 overall
record and a seventh-place ranking in the UAA, the volleyball
team ended its season with a win in a Halloween duel against Concordia
(IL) University. The Maroons had a winning 5-4 in play at Henry
Crown.
The
final kick
October 29 marked the
season's end for both the men's and the women's soccer teams with
losses to the University of Rochester in UAA play at Case Western
Reserve. The teams finished the 2000 campaigns with a men's record
of 8-8 overall and 3-4 in the conference, while the women-ranked
18th nationally-ended with an overall tally of 12-4-2 and 5-2
in conference play.
