Caps
off to a new director
Liz Michaels, AB'88, becomes the new director of Career and
Placement Services on May 1. As an alumna volunteer for CAPS,
Michaels was the keynote speaker at last year's Taking the Next
Step program for third-years and has interviewed students as
part of the College-sponsored internship program. She joins
the U of C after serving as president of Jellyvision, an interactive
development studio and creator of the game You Don't Know
Jack. She was previously chief operating officer of Morningstar,
a financial research and publishing firm.
Farewell
to Nash
Dean of Students Katie Nash will retire at the end of this academic
year. For ten years she has led the office that oversees academic
advising, registration, probation, study abroad, and the Dean's
List. Under her watch, the College launched online registration.
Before becoming dean in 1991, Nash was an advisor in the College
and associate dean of students. She plans to remain in Hyde
Park and spend time with her 9-month-old grandson.
Cookie

their class gift. Members of the gift committee baked and sold
$248.48 worth of sweets, and 22 class members contributed by
