Romeyn Beck Hough (1857–1924). The American Woods. Lowville, N.Y. Pub., and sections prepared by the author, 1893–1928. [Volume 14 with text by Marjorie G. Hough. Volumes 1 and 2, 2d ed.] Volume 14 of 14 in portfolio cases.

Each of the 14 portfolios in Hough’s collection consists of at least 25 unbound sets of wood sections mounted in page-sized paper frames. The publication clearly required an extraordinary amount of work: three sections each of 25 sets for each of 14 volumes, or 1,050 slices of wood per copy.
