In Their Own Words

Faye Zucker, AB’72, AM’75, and Joan E. Huebl, AB’72, AM’78

Ten percent of teens experience depression, 80 percent of them can be treated successfully, but fewer than half receive treatment at present, despite the fact that teens with depression are at higher risk for self-medicating with alcohol, cigarettes, and street drugs, for violent behavior, and for suicide. The authors have written this new book specifically for teenage readers. Using illustrations, case studies, checklists, quizzes, graphics, and sidebars, the book emphasizes treatment options, positive outcomes, and learned optimism.
