Dress Sense: The Emotional and Sensory Experiences of the Body and Clothes

|

Dress Sense focuses upon the senses of touch, taste, smell, and hearing, as well as the emotional attachments people form to their clothing. Based on Joanne Eicher's concept of clothing as anything which adorns or is applied to the body, the chapters investigate sensual contributions and roles in dress. The chapters range from historical investigations of clothing traditions no longer in existence, living traditions, challenges to contemporary attitudes, and concludes with roles online technology plays in our use and perception of clothing.
