Luo Yongjin combined 80 gelatin silver prints to create Lotus Block (1999/2002). “When I photograph, I constantly move the camera angle and viewpoint. I take pictures of the same building in different stages of construction and then combine them,” Luo writes. “The end result is an irregular and disorganized mixture that is neither contemporary nor ancient, neither new nor old.”
