Burke replaces Angelus
Tamsen Burke has been named the athletics department's assistant athletic director for intramural, recreational, and club sports. She has held similar positions at the University of Toledo and East Tennessee State University for the past 11 years. At Toledo, she served as coordinator for the Soccer Sports Club Championship for the National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA). In 1996 she was head chair of the NIRSA Volleyball Sport Club Championship. She succeeds John P. Angelus, who retired this past summer.

Defense, defense
Chicago senior linebacker Daniel T. Philips has been named to the Hewlett-Packard and d3football.com All-America teams-the second time the fourth-year has received both honors, making him the first player in Chicago's modern football era to earn All-American in consecutive years. He is the Maroons' sixth football All-American since 1985. Named the UAA's Defensive Player of the Year, he helped the Maroons lead the NCAA Division III in rushing defense this fall, with 44.2 yards per game. He also ranked second in the UAA in total defense as he racked up 93 tackles, 12 tackles-for-loss, seven passes defended, five sacks, four blocked kicks, and two interceptions.

Swish
By mid-January, the men's basketball team was ranked fourth nationally, with a record of 13-3 overall and 5-1 UAA. Women's basketball had a record of 10-5 overall, 2-4 UAA.
