Folk Festival reaches the big 4-0.

The 40th Annual University of Chicago Folk Festival of Traditional American Music will go on the boards in Mandel Hall February 4-6, 2000. Information regarding the Folk Fest appears on our Web site, http://www.mcs.net/~uofcfolk.

To celebrate our 40th consecutive year, we would like to hear from alum attendees, planners, and especially, presidents and co-presidents of years past. Please contact me at roisindubh@compuserve.com with stories, reminiscences, the highlights of your administration, etc.

WFMT radio recently gave the Folklore Society the gift of 35 years of U of C Folk Festival recordings. The Folklore Society, in concert with the Music Center of the Harold Washington Public Library and the American Folklife Center of the Library of Congress, is initiating an archiving and restoration project with those tapes.
