In
Opera (2000), Miao Xiaochun combines five chromogenic prints
to form a partial whole: “Any photograph,” Miao writes,
“can only depict a certain section of the world, with a certain
width and a certain length. This is not to be considered solely
a limitation, for it can be used to emphasize the importance of
a part of a scene and its implied meanings.”
