At the 2006 opening of Houston's Buffalo Bayou park, the crescent moon on the distant office tower echoed artist Stephen Korns's lighting design for the park's trails and bridges. Following the lunar cycle, their lights change from blue to white as the moon goes from new to full. Korns, AB'74, wanted the lighting to reflect nature's order and intelligence. Walking through the park is "like walking through a theater set or a museum," but, he adds, "it doesn't interfere with the natural power of the place itself." For more, see "Open Mike."
