Parasols on parade

After nearly two years of planning, the University’s Quarter-Centennial Celebration ran May 29 through convocation June 6, 1916. Alumni, pictured here sporting parasols, figured prominently in many of the events and were featured on June 3, Alumni Day. This “sunshine blessed” Saturday, according to a report by the secretary to the president, included a parade “the like of which has never before been witnessed by the human eye,” an international baseball game against Tokyo’s Waseda University, a circus, and an alumni vaudeville show.
