PVC Drum
Michael Dinges, MFA’05, created PVC Drum (2005) for his MFA thesis exhibition, Hidden Degrees of Freedom, at Midway Studios. The five-gallon bucket is part of Dinges’s Trench Art Series, pieces that contemporize the traditional practice of scrimshaw and trench art. He engraves everyday PVC plastic pipes and buckets with imagery combining container ships and shuttered factories with American iconography such as eagles and jet fighters.
