photo: Alma Mater tattoo

June, the season of commencements and reunions, is when students and alumni alike realize they don’t know the words to the Alma Mater. It’s also when even the most devoted Maroons admit it’s far too hot to wear their heart on their sleeve. Enter a temporary tattoo.

Graphic artist Stephanie Salant created this riff on the classic “Mom” theme, and Mark Cowett, a second-year history major from Miami, did the heavy lifting. The son of Mark L. Cowett, AM’74, MAT’76, Cowett heads the U of C Weight Training Club and prepped for his Dan Dry photo shoot with what he termed “a moderate bicep burn-out exercise.”

To get your own temporary tattoo, complete with instructions for application (and, equally important, removal), turn to page 9.—M.R.Y.
