From 1886 to 1906, John D. Rockefeller and William Rainey Harper had a complicated partnership, characterized by mutual respect and ambitious plans for the University of Chicago, but also by disagreements on how the University should develop—and who should fund it. Just think how the story would have flourished if there had been social networking.
