24 The Lafayette, IN, Journal and Courier profiled Dorothy C. Stratton, AM’24, of West Lafayette, IN, on the occasion of her 100th birthday. The article highlighted such milestones in her life as being the first leader of the U.S. Women’s Coast Guard Reserve, national director of the Girl Scouts of America (1950–60), and dean of women at Purdue University. The article also described her friendships with aviator Amelia Earhart and motion-study expert Lillian Gilbreth.
