Daniel Pepper, AB'02, started taking photographs during his third year at the U of C, while studying abroad in Jerusalem. "A camera is a way to access very tense political situations," he says. Now a photojournalist and reporter, Pepper travels to Africa and Asia, covering stories about "the abuse of power, environmental degradation, and social change." The photos are from his 2006 trips to refugee camps in Sudan and Burma, as well as a 2002 trip to India, where clean water is a luxury. See "Open Mike".
