Let Sleeping Docs Lie...
...especially if they're interns. Chicago researchers who assessed the
benefits of naps for medical residents during extended shifts found
that protected nap times for interns during on-call nights significantly
reduced fatigue. According to the study, in the June 6 Annals of Internal
Medicine, interns reported that even an hour's extra sleep led to substantial
improvements in fatigue, sleep quality, and ability to care for patients:

* It Takes a Consortium
This May Chicago economist James Heckman and colleagues launched the
Pritzker Consortium on Early Childhood Development. The Harris School
of Public Policy initiative will identify how best to invest in children
age 5 and younger for the largest individual and societal gains:
