Building, experience not empty
I would like to correct impressions in two recent issues. First, Walton R. Collins writes ("Teachable Moments," August/02) that before the North Kenwood/Oakland Charter School moved to its present site in the old Shakespeare School at 46th and Greenwood it operated out of "an empty church," St. James United Methodist at 46th and Ellis. The "empty" is wrong. For a while NK/O may have used empty rooms in the parish house attached to the church, but the church itself didn't close and wasn't empty.

Second, and in a different vein, after our class's Reunion in 2001, our secretary-correspondent Roger Bernhardt, AB'61, used the class notes to give me much too much credit for the success of our weekend. As program chair, I relied heavily on the support of the Alumni Association office. I had a wonderful experience, by the way, and recommend that alumni answer "Yes!!" when asked to work on their Reunion.

Constance C. Bradley, AB'61
