Male volunteers not so rare anymore

Second-year law student Dan Fickel, a Math Institute volunteer, reviews algebra homework with students at Hales Franciscan School, an all-boys Catholic high school in Woodlawn. The institute is part of the Men in Service program, created this past spring by the University Community Service Center to respond to a shortage of male volunteers. Other programs focus on writing skills and community/police relations.
