IN THE WORLD OF ADMISSIONS ESSAYS, CHICAGO SETS THE STANDARD
A September
2 Chicago Tribune editorial lauds the College Board's decision to add a writing
test to its basic SAT I college entrance exam. But finding the sample questions

dean of admissions Ted O'Neill and his staff for help in creating questions worth

NORC SURVEY TRACKS AFTERMATH OF TERRORIST ATTACKS
The National Opinion
Research Center reports that women, minorities, low-income groups, and people
in poor health show more long-term effects from the tragedy than the population
in general. The telephone survey of 805 U.S. residents and 296 residents of New
York City tracked 15 negative emotional and physical symptoms, as well as levels
of national pride, faith in others, and confidence in the military: http://www-news.uchicago.edu/releases/02/020811.norc.shtml
