Time memorial!
The wraps are off Lorado Taft’s
110-foot-long concrete sculpture The Fountain of Time
on the western Midway Plaisance. Since April 1999, when
restoration began on the 1922 work, the somber procession
of human figures has been sheltered under a makeshift roof.
Most of the $430,000 conservation tab was covered by the
Ferguson Fund, the same group that gave Taft $50,000 to
begin the sculpture in 1912.
